🪁Kite Workshops for Healing and Hope in Palestine
At Kites4Palestine, we are committed to fostering resilience, creativity, and a sense of community among children in Palestine. To support this mission, we are funding a series of Kite Workshops aimed at addressing the mental health and emotional well-being of children who have endured unimaginable challenges.
These workshops will be conducted across Palestine and will bring together trained professionals, including psychologists, counselors, and facilitators, to guide children through therapeutic activities centered around kite-making and design. Through these sessions, children will have the opportunity to:
- Express themselves creatively by designing their own kites using materials like plain kites, art supplies, and strings provided by Kites4Palestine.
- Engage in community-building activities in a safe, supportive environment, with workshops held in both indoor and outdoor spaces.
- Explore healing and emotional growth under the guidance of mental health professionals, who will lead sessions designed to address trauma and encourage positive coping mechanisms.
Focused Trauma Support
The workshops will be led by highly trained psychologists and counselors accredited by the Ministry of Health in Palestine. These experts are skilled in working with children and specialize in identifying and addressing trauma. By observing and engaging with the children, they will help explore and uncover underlying emotional challenges, providing tailored support and practical coping strategies. This approach ensures that each child’s unique needs are addressed, fostering emotional resilience and well-being.
Why Kites?
Kites symbolize freedom, hope, and the power to rise above adversity. For Palestinians, kites carry an even deeper meaning—they are a symbol of resilience, resistance, and connection to the skies above a land that holds their history and dreams. Flying kites has long been a cherished activity, providing moments of joy and unity even during times of hardship. It is a meaningful and peaceful way for children to express their emotions, aspirations, and identity, making kites a perfect medium for fostering healing and hope.
By creating and flying kites, children are not only engaging in a joyful activity but also reclaiming a sense of agency and purpose. This simple act becomes a profound message of endurance and the universal desire for freedom.
How You Can Help
Each workshop costs approximately £500 to organize, covering facilitator fees, refreshments for the children, and necessary materials. These life-changing sessions are fully funded by Kites4Palestine, but you can also make a difference by contributing directly.
